Presentation tomorrow

I almost forgot, we have a presentation tomorrow too!

can anyone whip up some slides or something that we can talk about? or should i do it?

Getting to Dapto

Hey guys, im still not 100% sure on how we will be getting to dapto tomo, but if moose could give me and Mel a lift from uni that would be awesome/rad. Not sure how long it takes to get to dapto, should only be 15-30 minutes, so maybe meet up at uni somewhere at 9:30?

the meeting itself starts at 10 and goes for 2 hours

campaign

when do you think we'll meet to work on the campaign stuff? friday works really well for me. or maybe monday a little after our presentation (but that might be a really long day)... or the only time i can really meet would be when i get back from melbourne.

just a heads up...

i won't be here from june 4th- june 9th... so hopefully we can get most of the stuff done before that. :) we are definitely on the right path now & i think it will be better to do it ahead of time instead of wait till the last minute anyways.

yay meeting!

hi guys. the meeting went extremely well & i'm really happy with the feedback we got!

bill.. i totally forgot that i don't have the cigarette on my computer that the client picked.. i made a document with the words, but i think that if i make all the different documents without the cigarette it would just make it more work for you if i send them.

here's the illustrator document that i made (its basically the smoke free illawarra in helvetica in the block) the rest shouldn't be too bad. sorry i couldn't do more.

keep me posted on the ball & chain. :)

..also how are we getting to the thing on monday???

Another client pdf

Hey guys I am putting together another document for the client, I will probably be done within about 30 mins to an hour, if you want to throw in some ideas now would be a good time, the final logo is kinda due tomorrow.

REPLY YAY

Hi Bill,

Some great work again by your team.
Thanks again for your contribution on this project.
I have discussed your work with the Committee and have some ideas on how to make this logo move forward.

I thought it would be easier if I type up the some notes separately, so I can cut out some images...see attached.

I am happy to discuss this with you verbally if it is not clear, I am on campus this week, so just send an email or phone and I can meet you somewhere.

Our plans at this stage, if it fits within your schedule, is to finalise the logo as soon as possible.... As on Friday I would like to be able to go to a printer and have the logo printed on an A2 size poster for the launch on Monday.

If you are able to have the logo as a pdf image for printing at this size that would be great.!

Thanks again to all your team.
Cheers
Lisa

:(

Well... jo still hasn't got back to me

campaign ideas

hey guys. try to come up with some POSITIVE ideas for how we could use the cigarette ball-and-chain in our ads. (the client likes the idea of it being positive) :D

[drowning surfer isn't exactly positive]

i was thinking that we could meet between class for the hour break & just talk over our ideas & maybe sketch them either in the meeting or after we meet.

ideas for the tagline/slogan???

any ideas??? :)

iterations

i think that we should maybe send them 5-6 different iterations of the new logo. honestly, most of them look ok to me and i don't really have a favorite... of my 5, i think i like the 4th one down the best. :)

cigarette butt drawings

just a couple of different cigarette butts, my favorite is either the first or third one, but eh

New logostuff

Okey dokie, heres a few variations on what I've been working on, trying to get a more organically flowing smoke whisp.

Also working with different fonts, I really think the slab serif works in the context of SFI, its easy to read at small sizes, looks neat and crisp and also breaks up the smoke trail.

Hopefully we can figure out a few variations we all like by tonight.

I was thinking of sending them maybe 3 that we all agree on around 7pm. The final logo is due this Wednesday remember!

Client Feedback

Hi Gridpunk,

Some great and varied designs! Fabo work and very exciting for us to work with such great creative minds.
Thanks for the notes on your designs. It is interesting to see the different angles you consider when coming up with the designs.

I have passed your designs through the committee and have some feedback that may improve the overall design of the final logo.

Overall, the first concept is the most appealing. As they are clear, straight forward and strong and as you say the simplest and easiest to relate to. Whilst we like the concept of promoting a positive message about quitting and the feel of the other designs, the tree/lung concept appears a bit too complicated of a concept and not so punchy. Can become confused with an environmental group.

One of my favourite fonts is in the last design, with the s and f joined and the smaller Illawarra. I would like to see this font used with a different image - perhaphs the butt out.

Some specific comments on the first two alternatives that would be good to see worked on:
For the first alternative - the smoke free font looks a little too spread out, the s as a smoke is good and the I for illawarra seems to work. But the overall size and look just doesn't seem to fit quite right.

The second design looks great - we would be interested to see the butt on the side, or incorporated into the blocky compact construction - somehow.

Also, a thought to keep in mind, that this logo will be used on future posters on smoking prevention messages, so the graphic used needs to be kept in proportion and not be to large to overwhelm the message on the poster (if that makes sense).

Hope this is of some assistance, and we look forward to the modifications.
We are hoping to review all of the logos from each group on Wed 26 May, so if you could send through the final images that would be wonderful.

Happy to clarify any issues you would like to discuss.

For World No Tobacco 31 May we will be using this day to launch our new name and image. Attached are more details.
You are all invited to attend.

Cheers
Lisa

Played around with layouts, made the smoke flow nicer

Ok I am seriously running out of ideas here

butt it out + smoke

A combination of the smoke formation and the butt it out idea

Looking at Mel's text placement i found that the f and S can create what looks like a wisp of smoke. Ignore the crappily drawn cigarette, it would be stylized or something, then the tick of the 'f' can be used as a 'no smoking' sign.

unfortunately she said she wanted to stay away from the no smoking sign type thing.

3 logos i like

i know we need to produce 3 logos to the client, since we all did few logos, i will vote for 2 of most appealing ones. I like Mel's version of the lung tree, and im a huge fan of her "put it out" one as well.

i hope you guys can do the same, by pick 2 of your favourite.

meeting?

hey guys. we really need to get on this stuff. i think we need to meet again before class (if it is possible). we are sooooo far behind! plus, we said that we would do all of this stuff and that everyone should check the blog and post things, but that isn't happening. :/

has anyone talked to moose at all?

besides todd and i, did anyone work on new/different concepts for the logo?

also, is anyone thinking of campaign ideas?

i know that we are all probably really busy, but if we could meet, that'd be ideal! i don't feel like going to class again and having jo tell us how far behind we are and that we need to do more.

sorry i havn't been very active on the blog. Been busy. Did a quick throw up of the lung tree, using thinner lines and a more minimalist look.

Might try going for something more abstract, but for now i gotta get some sleep

SFI concepts

Hey guys, if its possible could everyone think of a few concepts for the identity for tomorrow?

It would be great if we had a few strong elements we could then propose to the client.

If each person could come up with 1 thing they think could work that would be swell
