Alright so we are all pretty bad at this naming thing, but if we can come up with maybe 3ish names that we like by wednesday night then either post them here or in the comments that would be swell.

...i'm going to apologize ahead of time for some bad ideas i will have and also for probably coming up with 100 different names in the next day or two... but maybe one of them will work :D
alright, I've been getting my think on and come up with a few ideas, firstly:
'doing word design' - a take off of the whole 'a verb is a doing word', is a bit tongue in cheek towards the lecturers although looks a bit odd without context.
'Free-form design odyssey' - based on the hilarious free-form jazz odyssey in Spinal Tap, also carries connotations that we are willing to experiment and each task is an epic journey.
annnnd lastly my favourite:
'Have Concept, Will Travel'
alternatively 'have design, will travel'. based around early 1900's newspaper advertisements. was quite common and ranged from 'have van, will travel' for movers or trades people to 'have tux, will travel' for out of work stage people/actors. The phrase has popped up in pop culture quite a few times notably with the awesome American western series 'have gun, will travel' and the cheesy sci-fi novel 'have spacesuit, will travel'
the more i say 'have concept, will travel' the more i like it, plus it would open up a variety of cool identity options like an oldschool newspaper look.
Well, im glad to announce I finally worked this out and got onto the blog (w00t) and i've been looking at your ideas. i kinda just looked at word coupling IN YOUR SENTENCES (lol) and saw one that caught my eye, "Jazz Odyssey" hahaha. probably not, but eh. I kinda like Bill's idea of "Have concept, will travel" but i only felt thst way after it was explained. what would a potential client who had as little idea as me think? I kindas like Mel's 'witty banter' although it dosnt really get any kinda vibe of design. wait! idea! "Vibe of design" lol, nah thats not great, vibe design, design vibe, devibe... Sorry, just think aloud. or thinking writtenly... well, i guess thats it from me so far. I'll probably spam the crap outa this with my ideas before the end. i'm sure something will pop up. lemmie know what you thinks. moose signing off-

If its any difference to anyone I would really like to stay away from any sort of business suffix eg: throwing Design on the end.

"Removing The Spanner" (spanner in the works, geddit)
"Kerning the Butter" (rather than Churning the butter, sort of implies hard work with the addition of a geeky design pun, also potentially awesome logo designs?!)
"All But The Layers"
"Branding Iron" sorta sounds cool, also awesome logo potential.
"We've got Style(sheets)"
"Drop Shadow"
"Moose Like Glow"
"Duot One": damn thought it would have been 'duet one' ~ 'duo tone' but im kinda tired and can't think
"Thinking Outside the Grid" rather than a box
"My Kind of Type" otherwise "My Type"

Transdesignism -based on trans-humanism, the use of technology and science to force evolution. Alternatively Transdesign, which probably sounds better anyway.
Designpunk -sorta like cyberpunk (HE SAY YOU BRADE RUNNAH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBiYAa5qdDE ), steampunk, desertpunk, that sort of stuff. Alternatives include Inkpunk, Gridpunk, Brandpunk, Graphicpunk
Post Design -sounds pretty pretentious though

I quite like that last one, dystopic without design, and i really really like the "-punk" suffix, if we can work it in. Otherwise Branding Engine sounds pretty hardcore.
we need to decide on one before class, so we can work on sketches for the same name due on monday... so by the end of tonight, if possible, i think we need to pick 1 that we can all agree on.
branding engine? i dunno, sounds pretty cool but it seems a little uh....i dunno. distopic without design is ok, although i prefer it as dystopia without design. ink the lab sounds ok, although we could just refine it to 'ink lab' im kinda fond of using the word 'ink', but then again im bias coz its the name of me n chunny's entertainment company (motionINK) lol, distopINK without design. nah that sounds silly. so, breaking it down it looks like we as a group like the names; branding iron branding engine dystopic/dystopia without design and something to do with ink? i've been meaning to do some mock up logos but havnt found time between fixing my car, working and trying to tidy up my sty of a house. That's just the thing though, more and more studios are going with the 'phrase names' so we could argue that we are being all modern.
